Fortuna is in the Eel River Valley, about 30 minutes south of Arcata. The drive is a beautiful one most of the year, and the project work down here is some of our favorite, the mix of in-town residential and rural properties on the outskirts gives us a real range of conditions to work in.
Fortuna's climate is slightly warmer and drier than the immediate coast, which expands the material options for siding. Wood siding performs better here than it does on the immediate coast, while fiber cement remains a strong default. The town's residential core has a strong base of established homes, with newer construction on the perimeter, both benefit from careful weatherproofing and proper material selection.
