Our approach

Siding is what's underneath as much as what's on top.

The siding you see, the lap, the panels, the trim, is the last thing that goes on the wall. Most of the work that determines how long it lasts happens before that: removing what's there, dealing with what's underneath, integrating the house wrap, flashing the windows and doors correctly, and making sure water has a path to drain when it inevitably gets behind the cladding.

On the Humboldt coast, "inevitably" is the right word. Salt air, fog, and a hundred-plus inches of rain a year don't make exceptions for shortcuts. We install siding the way we'd install it on our own homes, because some of us have.

What's included

Every siding installation covers the full envelope.

Pricing varies by home size and material, but the scope below is standard on every installation. We don't unbundle the parts that protect the house.

01

Tear-off & inspection

Remove existing siding, document any rot, water damage, or framing issues found underneath, and price repair work transparently before we proceed.

02

House wrap & flashing

Install or replace the weather-resistive barrier (typically Tyvek), with self-adhered flashing at every window, door, and penetration. Lapped correctly so water sheds outward.

03

Material selection

Fiber cement, engineered wood, or natural wood. We help you pick based on exposure, maintenance tolerance, budget, and the look you want, not what we have on the truck.

04

Precision install

Proper fastening pattern, correct overlap, factory-finish handling, and clean cuts at every transition. Trim, corner boards, and window casings integrated, not patched on.

05

Caulk, paint & finish

Backer rod and exterior-grade caulk where the spec calls for it. Touch-up paint or full-finish coats where applicable. Edges and seams sealed for the long term.

06

Cleanup & walk-through

Daily site cleanup during the project. Final cleanup, dump-runs, and a punch-list walk-through with you before we call it done.

Location
Humboldt County, CA

A fallen tree took out a section of soffit, fascia, and lap siding on a craftsman-style home. We opened up the affected area, replaced the damaged sheathing, integrated new flashing into the existing weather barrier, and matched the original siding profile so the repair reads as nothing more than the rest of the house.

Common questions

Siding installation, answered.

Specific questions about your home? Send them our way, we'll answer plainly without pressure.

What's the best siding for the Humboldt County coast?
Fiber cement siding is widely considered the best fit for our coastal climate. It resists moisture, salt air, fog, and fire, all major concerns on the North Coast. Engineered wood and properly sealed cedar are also strong options for specific styles.
How long does a full siding installation take?
Most full siding installations take 1 to 3 weeks depending on home size, material, and weather. Fiber cement runs longer because of the material's weight and detail work. We provide a project timeline before starting so you know what to expect.
Do you handle the house wrap and weatherproofing?
Yes. Every installation includes house wrap (typically Tyvek), proper window and door flashing, and integration with existing roof and foundation transitions. We do not subcontract this, it's the part of the job that determines whether your siding lasts 10 years or 40.
Can you install siding on a new construction project?
Yes. We work with general contractors and homeowners on new builds throughout Humboldt County. Coordinating with your builder's framing schedule and window install is part of how we keep timelines tight.
